Working on my Cord, 1974

This is Cord #4, 810 2307A, partially undressed. I acquired it from Al Goodman of Philadelphia, then Cord Technician of the ACD Club. (I lived in Worcester, Massachusetts then.) Al enjoyed adding modern modifications to his car. Here I am in 1975, probably removing some of them. (See the twin necks on the radiator? The orange oil filter?) My son Jeff, then 14, took the photo.

I sold this car in 1984, in Norfolk, Virginia. It has since been restored in the midwest.

This Cord's bodywork was, to be charitable, best seen from a distance. In 1976 in Auburn photographer Nicky Wright asked Gordon Buehrig to pose with one of his creations. Gordon insisted on an 810 Westchester. It was Labor Day morning, and my sedan was the only one left in town! View the photo that's since graced many a coffee table book, lumpy fenders and all.
