Lycoming Model FB V-8 (unsupercharged)
288.6 cubic inches
Valve arrangement: In block
Main bearings: 3
Oil capacity: 8 quarts
The Owner's Manual says 7 quarts, but it's wrong.
Coolant capacity: 28 quarts

Bore: 3 1/2 inches
Stroke: 3 3/4 inches
Compression ratio: 6.6 -1

Horsepower: 117 @ 3600rpm actual
Torque: 223 lb-ft @ 1800rpm
Auburn advertised 125 @ 3500rpm.

Firing Order:  2R - 1R - 3R - 4R - 1L - 3L - 4L - 2L
That's correct; on the FB engine one complete bank fires, then the other fires.

Torque: 258 lb-ft @ 2800rpm - 273 @ 3000rpm
Lycoming's dynomometer charts show these horsepower and torque ranges for production engines. For some reason Auburn always advertised 170bhp, which was the output of the earliest test engines before cam grind and timing were tweaked.

Firing Order:  1L -3L - 3R - 2L - 2R - 1R - 4L - 4R
